Catalogue Note

Rossini's sale of his collection of paintings comes in the final year of his life and was made on his behalf by Giovanni Dozza.  The payments from the sale of his house in Florence come from Carlo Capezzuoli, the lawyer who had signed the deed of sale in 1864.  Rossini died on 13 November 1868.
