Catalogue Note

Vanessa is an opera in four acts, for which Barber was awarded the Pulitzer Prize, first produced at the Metropolitan Opera House in New  York on 15 January 1958.  The libretto was by Barber's partner Gian Carlo Menotti, but this manuscript shows the extent of Barber's contribution.
