Catalogue Note
Tagliente's work, first published in 1515 as Libro de abaco, was published regularly throughout the sixteenth century. "There are numerous interesting woodcuts, and such familiar problems as those of the couriers, the testament, and the sale of eggs are given with illustrations... There were few textbooks so influential as this in shaping the subsequent teaching of arithmetic" (Smith, p.115).
