Catalogue Note

First edition of Lydiat's early lectures on astronomy. Lydiat (1572-1646) engaged in scholarly arguments with both Scaliger and Kepler about chronology, earning their disdain, but he was appointed chronologer to Henry, Prince of Wales in 1609. His scientific acumen was not insignificant, but he maintained a biblical approach to Creation and viewed the universe as a finite entity.
