Catalogue Note

First edition of Bianchelli's treatise on fevers and a “head to toe” account of specific ailments. Bianchelli (c. 1440-1520) was a highly respected physician and taught medicine at Ferrara and then at Pisa.

The author presents a wide-ranging survey of fevers: their causes, be they external (poisons and so on) or internal (fevers generated by the humours); and also their various treatments. The second part of the work is a standard list of illnesses and their remedies, “a capite ad pedes”.
