8vo (288 x 230mm.), frontispiece engraved by Camille Beltrand, 14 illustrations (7 full page) and decorations after Sebatien Laurent printed in colour and heightened with gold, one of 50 copies (this one unnumbered) on japon with the frontispiece present in full colour decomposition, the final state of the illustration "La décollation" and a suite of all the illustrations and decorations in blue, two unused plates (one in four states, the other in two), presentation copy signed by the publishers, black morocco by G. Cretté succ. de Marius Michel, covers with a pattern of small concentric squares of gold fillets with red morocco onlaid at centre, spine decorated with similar squares and lettered in gilt, brown suede doublures and endleaves, original wrappers bound in, gilt edges, morocco-backed chemise and slipcase
