  • Good collection of about 50 mid nineteenth-century letters, notes and documents signed by Bismarck, D.F. Strauss, Semper, Kaulbach and others

comprising working notes, drafts and completed letters, mainly addressed to the publishers Emil and Rudolf Suchsland (of the Hermann'sche Buchhandlung), including items by Bismarck (autograph covering note to the Minister of War, A.von Roon, in 1866, signed "vBismarck"), Gottfried Semper (about Suchsland, Zurich, 1856, and a letter to Semper in 1833), David Strauss (2 autograph letters about his booklet on "Maler und Kunstfreunde", Heidelberg, 1858), Wilhelm von Kaulbach (autograph letter about the engraver Calamerter, and a receipt signed), and letters by Count Auersperg, Vice-President Soison, (several notes about Wesendonk and others, written during a session of the Frankfurt Parliament), Palacky, Klockmann, Friedrich Stoltze, Moritz Hartmann, Haeusser, Roquette, Julius Thaeter, Otto Müller, Moritz Gerstenhöfer, Schaube and others, some letters addressed to the theologian Karl Jürgens

c.58 items, in late nineteenth-century inscribed wrappers, many with old typed transcriptions, Berlin, Zurich, Frankfurt, Cologne, Stuttgart, Heidelberg, Freiburg, Graz and elsewhere, mainly 1830-1870, a few later, a few items torn
