Catalogue Note
Marquardsburg (just outside Bamberg) was originally created in 1687 as a hunting lodge for the Prince-Bishop of Bamberg. Lothar Franz von Schönborn, who became bishop in 1693, had the lodge and elaborate grounds completed, and several of his residences were engraved by Kleiner.
