Catalogue Note
Lorini, a native of Florence, designed and built fortifications for the Venetian Republic and the kings of France and Spain. The first edition of this work was apparently printed "for presentation to certain Christian princes only" (Cockle) and hence is very scarce. This expanded edition followed the first printed for public circulation in 1597.
