Catalogue Note
Geometrical bindings were popular in France and England at the start of the seventeenth century; Davis 454 in the British Library, dated to c.1616-1620, on a Paris imprint of 1616, has very similar decoration but with smaller lozenge-shaped sections. They appear predominantly on devotional works of the period.
