8 volumes, 12mo (153 x 90mm.), engraved title in volume 1, half-titles, ruled in red throughout, contemporary French red morocco gilt, triple fillets forming border and central panel with floral corner pieces, spines gilt in compartments with floral and foliate motif, edges gilt, marbled endpapers, eighteenth-century ownership inscription on title-pages struck out with new ex libris in its place, slight dampstaining in volume I, some repairs and restoration at spine ends and corners, some wear to hinges

Catalogue Note

Antoine Vitré was responsible for the celebrated Paris Polygot Bible, completed in 1645.

The engraved title, general title page, printer's letter and preface are all dated 1652 and were printed after the body of the work and placed at the beginning of volume I.
