Matthew Raine (1760-1811, headmaster of Charterhouse School), his note at head of title-page dated April 10, 1798 (much of his library went to Trinity College Cambridge after the death of his brother); "Matthew Raine's copy. Afterwards M. Hebers", pencil note on flyleaf (not found in Heber's sale catalogues of 1834-1836, though lot 3710 is a copy in vellum)

An elegant copy of Aldus's second edition; see lot 238 for a copy of the 1499 first edition. Later in the same year Aldus produced the editio princeps of Hesychius's lexicon.
