Small 4to (188 x 143mm.), woodcut title vignette of the Man of Sorrows and 36 woodcuts depicting the Fall of Man by Albrecht Dürer, interleaved with later blanks, late seventeenth-century panelled calf finely rebacked in the eighteenth-century, spine gilt in compartments, later blue endpapers, one or two small wormholes affecting the first half of the volume, head of title waterstained and strengthened, some staining and soiling, E5 with scorch mark(?) to woodcut and lower blank portion of margin excised and repaired, foot of spine with small loss, corners and sides rubbed

First edition of Dürer's Little Passion with Latin text by Benedictus Chelidonius. Dürer considered the Passion to be the subject most worthy of representation in pictorial art. He portrayed it five different times, leaving a sixth version unfinished at the time of his death.
