Condition

The sheet is not laid down, but is adhered to a backing card via two small hinges at the top edge. The sheet is framed as an oval. The sheet is unevenly cut, with deckled edges throughout. There are areas of tearing and loss to the top half of the extreme left edge, and a further spot to the bottom edge, not visible in the present mount. There is a tiny hole to the centre of the right hand edge, again, not visible in the present mount. There is discolouration to the sheet, most apparent when viewing the work outside of its oval card mount. The discolouration corresponds to the shape of this mounting, which appears to have been the artist's original intention for the framing of the work. There are one or two very tiny flecks of possible foxing to the bottom right edge, not visible in the present mount. But this excepting the work appears to be in good overall condition, with strong, fresh chalks throughout. Housed behind glass in a thin gilt wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
