Condition
The illustration of the catalogue is accurate. Good overall condition despite the inevitable scratches and marks throughout due to age and handling.
Some very minor chips to the gilding which is later. The seatrail is reinforced with two later wooden blocks on the back legs. These blocks and some old traces of woodworm are only visible when you you flip the armchair.
The upholstery is brand new. The construction is firm and sound.

Catalogue Note
Le répertoire ornemental à la fois riche et très original décorant cette bergère n'a pu être rapproché de sièges identifiés. Toutefois, le dessin et les proportions parfaitement maîtrisés de cette bergère sont à comparer avec la production des plus grands menuisiers de la fin du XVIIIe siècle comme Georges Jacob, Claude Sené ou Jean-Baptiste Boulard qui réalisèrent des séries de sièges destinés à l'ameublement des châteaux royaux.
