Le modèle du cerf couché aux abois se retrouve sur la paire de chenets livrée par le bronzier Pitoin pour le salon de madame Du Barry à Fontainebleau en 1772 et dont un feu analogue est conservé au musée national du Château, à Compiègne (inv. OA 5176).
