Catalogue Note
By repute, this table comes from Ellel Grange in Lancashire. The house was built in 1860 by Liverpool merchant William Preston. Preston commissioned Messrs. Gillows of Lancaster to furnish his newly built home. The offered lot is possibly the Victorian table from the Ellel Grange House Sale, Christie's, 22-23 October 1979, lot 751.
