Description

  • wine
From the private collection of Mark Birley, removed from a purpose built, temperature controlled cellar and sold ‘as is’. Due to the age of many of the wines, the labels are in various states of repair, indeed several are barely legible. The levels of the wine also vary and in the case of some of the very old wines may have a negative impact on their quality. This is as to be expected in a private collection that spans such a broad time period.

Rarely does one have the opportunity to purchase the culmination of a connoisseur’s lifelong interest in wine. Comprised of single or ‘loose’ bottles and not full cases, this lot has been valued conservatively and there are numerous gems to be found within. A full inventory is available upon request.

Highlights include:

Cheval Blanc (1982, 1985, 1989)

Haut Brion (1981, 1997)

Haut Brion Blanc (1982, 1997)

Krug (1979, 1982, 1989)

Dom Ruinart Rosé - Annabel's 25th anniversary label

Lafite (1970, 1979)

La Mission Haut Brion (1997)

Petrus (1970, 1981)

Yquem (1948, 1967, 1976, 1983)

Sassicaia (1990)

Maximin Grunhauser Herrenberg TBA, Von Schubert (1989)

Plus exclusive bottlings including Mark's Club Saint-Emilion 2003, bottled by J P Mouiex and 7 bottles of Private Collection Porto Velho 1930 Vintage Port, with metal labels stating 'Private Collection Mark Birley 29 May 1930'.

(approximately 266 bottles)
