Catalogue Note

This Regency side cabinet relates to high quality furniture produced by the firm of Henry Holland, an architect and designer for the Prince of Wales. The parcel-gilt fluted pilasters and tapered feet are often found on Holland's side cabinets and on a rosewood commode designed by Holland for Samuel Whitbred at Southill, Bedfordshire. Other high quality cabinet makers were to employ similar decorative devices at the time and Gillow are worthy of mention too.
