Catalogue Note
The offered lot is identical to a stand that supports a cabinet which is illustrated in The Knight of Glin and James Peill, Irish Furniture, London, 2007, p. 249, no. 185. The piece (which could well be the offered lot) is described as being '...typically Irish with a lion-mask centred apron flanked by eagle heads and scrolling foliage on a deeply pounced ground'. The black and white image is credited to the Glin Archive.
