Catalogue Note

Mondino del Robilante, from a renowned Italian family, was a friend of Nancy Cunard, the British heiress, writer, political activist and muse to many of the 20th century's most distinguished writers and artists. She bought the present work directly from Wyndham Lewis while they were in Venice in 1922.
