The armorial brooch with the arms of Granville of England impaling the arms of Smith of Bristol, County Somerset, the shield with a lion passant and flags highlighted with red, black and orange enamel, set with buff-top sapphires, citrines, rubies and emeralds, accented by pyramidal-cut citrines, further set with single-cut diamonds weighing approximately 1.15 carats, signed Cartier Paris, Made in France, numbered L469, with French assay and partial workshop marks, one citrine missing.
Condition
In good condition. The sapphires are a medium light violetish blue, eye-clean to lightly included, well matched for color. The rubies are a medium purplish red. The citrines and emeralds are decorative in quality. The diamonds are approximately G-H color, VS-SI clarity. No visible enamel loss. Dimensions approximately 1 3/8 by 5/8 inches.
