The armorial brooch with the arms of Smith of Bristol, County Somerset, set with buff-top rubies and sapphires accented by single-cut diamonds weighing approximately .30 carat, signed Cartier, Paris, partially numbered L636, with French assay mark and workshop mark for Henri Lavabre, one ruby missing.

Condition

In good condition. The rubies are a medium deep richly saturated purple-red, eye-clean to lightly included, with one exhibiting a chip visible only under magnification. The sapphires are a medium blue, lightly included. The diamonds are approximately H-I color, predominantly VS clarity. Dimensions approximately 1 1/2 by 5/8 inches.
