Description

  • Jean Mahie
  • gold
Composed of five panels, the three front panels decorated with abstract figures, gross weight approximately 146 dwts, length 15 inches, signed JM and Jean Mahie.

Condition

In good condition. The necklace bears a nice heft and the yellow gold exhibits a rich patina. Bearing some minor scratching due to wear, but this is not apparent except under very close inspection. The necklace is completed by a backchain consisting of six links. The clasp is a simple hook. Please note the white metal trim is composed of platinum, not white gold as stated in the catalogue. According to the designer, Jacline Mazard, the necklace was not marked accordingly due the lack of the appropriate stamp. Ms. Mazard has also indicated that this piece is listed as number 19163 in the comprehensive catalogue of her work, and is part of her "charming monsters" line. It is a one-of-a-kind piece executed in 1998.
