Description

  • sapphire, diamond, white gold
Centring on a cushion-shaped sapphire weighing 19.30 carats, flanked on each side by a cushion-shaped diamond weighing 2.37 and 2.31 carats respectively, mounted in platinum. Ring size: 6

Condition

Colour and Clarity: According to both Gübelin and SSEF reports, the cushion sapphire is natural, of Burmese origin, with no indications of heating, and its colour is considered "Royal Blue" colour in trade; also accompanied by Gübelin information sheet stating that this sapphire is rarely found in nature. Two side diamonds, according to GIA reports, are matching, F colour, VS1 and VS2 clarity respectively. Please refer to the reports for details. In our opinion, the sapphire is of saturated blue colour, very clean to naked eyes and lively. Upon 10x loupe, there are some minor silks at one corner, but not noticeable even under loupe check. Condition: Platinum ring mount, in very good condition.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.
