Condition
Colour and Clarity: According to Cartier Certificate of Authenticity and its appendix, this brooch was made in 1969, by Cartier Paris, following the Cartier tradition, using carved gemstones of Indian origin initiated by the famous "Tutti-Frutti" jewels of the 1920's. Please refer to the certificate and appendix for details. In our opinion, the carved emerald is of medium green colour, translucent clarity. Upon 10x loupe, there are many surface-reaching fissures, not seen to naked eyes. Rubies are deep red colour, eye clean. Upon 10x loupe, some rubies may have surface nicks. Diamonds are about G to I colours, VVS to VS clarity. Signed Cartier Paris, with French assay marks.
Condition: Karat gold mount, with signs of wear and minor scratches to the metal, overall in good condition.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please note that jadeite and rubies of Burmese origin and articles of jewellery containing jadeite or rubies of Burmese origin all less than 100 years old may not be imported into the US. The purchaser's inability to import any item into the U.S. or any other country as a result of these or other restrictions shall not justify cancellation or rescission of the sale or any delay in payment. Catalogue Note
Accompanied by Cartier certificate of authenticity numbered GE99-25, dated 12 January 1999, stating that "this brooch dated 1969 is already showing very distinctive features of the 1970's, in particular the textured gold work and the general largeness of the piece itself... In the Cartier tradition is the use of carved stones of Indian origin initiated by the famous "Tutti-Frutti" jewels of the 1920's and many others subsequent creations."
