10 volumes, 8vo (9 1/4 x 6 in.; 235 x 150 mm).  Frontispiece portraits of Clay in each volume, pictorial title-pages, letterpress title-pages printed in red and black, fragment of an autograph note signed ("H. Clay") and dated 14 September 1803 inlaid in vol. 1 of "Life and Times." Half-green morocco over pale green moirĂ© covered boards, the spine in six compartments gilt (two reserved for lettering), pale green moirĂ© doublures, top edges gilt; spines faded to a pleasant tan.
