In 8s (7 1/8 x 4 3/8 x 113 mm). Wood-engraved vignette of Thoreau's hut after a sketch by his sister Sophia, lithographed plan of Walden Pond, 8-page publisher's catalogue dated April 1854 inserted between rear endpapers; lower fore-dge corners of first gathering just bumped. Publisher's blind-panelled brown cloth, spine gilt-lettered, yellow endpapers, plain edges; very light wear with some minor restoration at head and foot of spine. Half green morocco slipcase, chemise.
