President Roosevelt's copy of the first edition of this lively illustrated account of the American Revolution with engravings by Chodowiecki, including portraits of Washington, Gates, Franklin, Laurens, and John Paul Jones, scenes of the Boston Massacre and Tea Party, the Battle of Lexington, Bunker Hill, Saratoga, Franklin at Versailles, the French landing at Rhode Island, the Surrender of Cornwallis, the seizure of Major André, etc., with a colored plate of the new flag and of American military uniforms.
