2 volumes, 8vo (7 3/4 x 5 in.; 195 x 125 mm). Half-titles in both volumes, 5 folding maps (Sketch of the Operations Before Charleston in second state with the spelling of "Approatches" corrected; Wheat & Brun 595); scattered staining and foxing and text browning, offsetting to maps and adjacent text. Contemporary tree calf, marbled endpapers; sympathetically rebacked with black calf lettering and numbering pieces, old scrapes on boards of vol. 2.

Catalogue Note

First edition of an important history of the American Revolution as fought in the South.   Although this account in the main is derived from the British Annual Register, Ramsay had petitioned for copyright protection in 1785, which he received when the first copyright act was passed in May 1790.
