8vo (192 x 123mm.), 3 volumes, first editions, rare first issue of vol.1 (with title-page dated 1903), usual second state of vol.2 (with cancelled title-page dated 1903), half-titles, embossed "Presentation Copy" stamp on title-page of vol.1, original olive green cloth, upper cover blocked in gold with TH monogram medallion, in the original dust-jackets of greenish-grey paper printed in blue, in modern blue chemises and morocco-backed slipcases, endpapers spotted, edges slightly browned, spines slightly faded and bumped at head and foot, some wear to corners, some small tears at edges and corners of dust-jackets
