8vo (190 x 122mm.), 3 volumes, first edition, one of 1000 copies (of which only 860 were bound up), single leaf of advertisements at the end of volume I, dark chocolate endpapers, original dark green buckram-grain cloth blocked in black on front and blind on back with 2-rule border (Purdey’s primary binding), spines lettered in gilt, green morocco-backed clamshell case, very slight browning, some splitting at gutter between gatherings, skewed, binding slightly rubbed, small tears to spines at head and foot, signs of wear to extremities.
