8vo (212 x 136mm.), 2 volumes, first edition in book form, one of 1,000 copies, publisher’s advertisement leaf at end of volume 1, frontispieces and illustrations after George du Maurier, with B4 unsigned (as in Wolff) and F1 signed F, publisher's red-brown diagonal fine-ribbed cloth, blocked and lettered in gilt and black, chocolate endpapers, in calf-backed slipcase, slight spotting, splitting at hinges, spines bumped at head and foot, some slight wear to edges and corners
