Catalogue Note
"Fletcher Robinson came here with me and we are going to do a small book together 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' -- a real creeper..." (letter by Doyle to his mother, March 1901). The book edition did not appear until 25 March 1902, towards the end of this serial publication. The parts-issue was an unprecedented success, with the extraordinary demand creating huge queues at the newstands up and down the country. It was the only time in The Strand's history that a seventh printing was needed to fulfil the demand for copies.
