Catalogue Note

The first work is one of the rarer West Country novels by the Devonian folk song collector, antiquarian  and scholar Sabine Baring-Gould, also a writer of famous hymns such as "Onward, Christian Soldiers" and "Now the Day is Over". In 2011 the complete collection of his celebrated folk song manuscripts were digitized and published online by the Devon Tradition Project in association with the English Folk Dance and Song Society.
