Catalogue Note

A lovely copy of the larger and more unusual 1/150 issue of the greatest novel of modern times.

As noted in Sylvia Beach's Ulysses notebook (see Glenn Horowitz Bookseller, James Joyce - Books and Manuscripts, 1996), this copy was originally sold to the firm of Bickers and Son on 3 April 1922. Bickers and Son were known as publishers although there was also a branch of the firm which operated a bindery. The large paper issue (150 copies) of the first edition is of a larger size than the other two issues (100 signed copies and 750 copies on handmade paper).
