Condition
This large oil on canvas is well stretched onto a good stretcher. The painting has never been cleaned, and although the palette has perhaps softened slightly over time, the work has an original feel which should not be disturbed.
The painting may have been rolled or handled slightly poorly at some point, and some losses occurred. These are visible in the upper left edge and in the center of the right edge running down to the lower right corner. Across the bottom edge, there are isolated losses about 6-8 inches from the bottom edge. There are also small linear losses and slight scratches that are also not original running horizontally through the middle of the picture. The artist himself scraped and made light colored marks in the blue background that are original. The work is in stable condition.
