Condition

This work has a heavy paint layer as is typical of early works by the artist. The painting does not appear to have suffered any damage. The canvas is slightly relaxed. The stretcher is original and slightly uneven in places. Some cracking has developed to the paint layer, which is typical of this period, but this does not indicate any instability. Ideally, the canvas should not be lined to eliminate the cracking. There is very slight abrasion to the rocky mountains in the lower right, which is noticeable but presumably original. The condition of this painting is good. (This condition report has been provided courtesy of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.)
