Condition

This work has been recently restored and should be hung in its current condition. The canvas is lined, using wax as an adhesive, which, although not non-acidic, is serviceable. The paint layer is clean, varnished and retouched. There are no visible structural damages that have been repaired by the lining and the painting presents a very fresh and good-looking paint layer when viewed with the naked eye. Under ultraviolet light one can see quite numerous, but well-applied, retouches in the torso of the figure which address what appear to be slight staining or abrasion. In the left forearm there is a diagonal scratch which runs into the sky itself, but all other restorations seems to attend to spots of thinness or blemishes. Most of the retouches are confined to the torso itself, with just a few spots in the white fabric beneath the figure.
