Condition
The painting is in good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals retouching in several spots throughout the painting, including the upper left corner, one area above the figure's head, a small spot on the figure's ear, in several areas of thick impasto in the violin and a larger area of retouching in the figure's knee. There are scattered areas of craquelure in areas of heavy impasto.
