Condition

Pen and ink and watercolor on B Grayon watermarked paper. The vertical watermark is visible running down the right edge. Hinged at top in 3 places; the hinges are slightly thick. There is also white heightening to the work. Handling creases, including a well-defined handling crease at the upper left corner. Surface dirt. Light stain. Verso: handling creases, surface dirt, tape from previous hinge at upper center edge. In overall good condition.

Catalogue Note

Suzanne Lenglen, nicknamed La Divine by the French press, was a French tennis player who won 31 Championship titles between 1914 and 1926. Lenglen was the World No. 1 player between 1921 and 1926, winning 81 singles titles, 73 doubles titles and 11 mixed doubles titles throughout her career.
