Condition

The sheet has been mounted onto a black mat. There is very minor craquelure in the black paint at the creature's stomach. The paper is overall toned. In geenrally good condition.

Catalogue Note

Modest Mussorgsky worked on The Fair at Sorochyntsi between 1874 and 1880; the work was incomplete at the time of his death in 1881. He incoporated music from another opera, Night on Bald Mountain, as a dream sequence involving the hero of The Fair at Sorochyntsi.
