Condition
This work is unlined and has probably never been removed from its original stretcher. The paint layer is clean and in excellent condition. Technically Boudin has a very free approach to painting, especially in his skies. In this composition he has left a good deal of the raw gesso showing particularly in the clouds in the center and center left. Over time slight darkening has occurred to some of the canvas grain within this gesso layer and there are tiny dots of retouching that have been added within these clouds. The retouches are very accurate and appropriate. The picture looks well and should be hung as is.
