- oil on board
- 41.3 by 33cm., 15 7/8 by 13in.
Provenance
Private Collection (acquired circa 1990s)
Condition
The board is stable. There is a milky varnish through which the UV light cannot fully penetrate, though there do not appear to be any signs of retouching visible under UV. There is some frame rubbing to parts of all four extreme edges, most prominently a thin scratch to the centre upper edge and a small paint loss to the centre lower edge (not visible when framed). There is a 5cm long vertical scratch to the figure's neck with some intermittent tiny associated paint losses. There is some light general surface dirt and this work would benefit from a clean. Otherwise this work is in overall good condition.
Colours: Slightly warmer in the original when compared to the printed catalogue illustration.

Catalogue Note
The board is stable. There is a spot of paint loss to the centre of the lower edge, barely visible when framed. There is a horizontal line of frame abrasion to the centre of the upper edge. There is a thick layer of varnish that prevents the UV light from fully penetrating. There appears to be not evidence of re-touching under UV light.
Colour: Slightly crisper in the original.
