Provenance

Acquired from the artist by the family of the present owner in the mid 1950s

Condition

The canvas is not lined. There is an uneven and discoloured varnish which prevents the UV light from fully penetrating, but there do not appear to be any signs of retouching visible under UV light. UV examination does reveal some areas of fluoresence due to the varnish and fly spots. This work would benefit from a light clean. There is some light frame rubbing to parts of the left, right and lower edges and some minor paint shrinkage in places. Otherwise this work is in overall good condition. Colours: Overall fairly accurate in the printed catalogue.
