Condition

Painted on board and attached to the painted artist's frame. The board and frame are stable. UV examination reveals some scattered small spots of retouching in places including some to the artist's frame. There are some overpainted (by the artist) nail heads running intermittently across the board, corresponding to the two horizontal support batons to the verso. There is some very minor paint shrinkage and craquelure in places and a few small scattered paint losses. There is some light wear to parts of the frame, with some associated losses, consistent with age and handling. There is a 19cm long horizontal very slight indentation, approximately 7cm in from the centre upper edge. Otherwise this work is in overall good condition and has a lovely rich impasto surface. Colours: Fairly accurate in the printed catalogue illustration.
