Condition
The canvas is not lined. There is an artist's pinhole to the centre of the extreme upper edge and one to the lower right corner. UV examination reveals three small spots of retouching to the sky towards the centre of the left edge, a fine line to the upper centre of the lower left quadrant, some intermittent flecks to the extreme upper edge associated with previous frame rubbing, and a further tiny fleck to the cliffs. There is a very faint vertical stretcher bar mark down the centre of the canvas, some very fine lines of stable craquelure in places, and a very minor undulation to the centre of the canvas. Otherwise, this work is in overall good condition.
Colours: overall fairly accurate in the printed catalogue, though overall slightly less yellow in the original.
