Condition

The canvas is not lined and there is an uneven varnish. There do not appear to be any signs of retouching visible under UV light, though UV examination does reveal some areas of dull fluorescence in places, consistent with the pigment. There is some stable paint shrinkage throughout the green of the sky and the brown of the shadows, and some scattered fine lines of craquelure in places. Otherwise, this work is in overall good condition. Colours: overall fairly accurate in the printed catalogue, though the green of the sky is brighter in the original.
