Condition

The canvas has been relined. Ultraviolet light reveals a minor circa 1 by 3cm area of retouching in the extreme lower right corner of the composition and some tiny scattered spots, primarily in the lower right quadrant of the sky. There are minor fine lines of craquelure visible under close inspection in some of the dark pigments. This painting is in overall good condition and is ready to hang. Held in a decorative gilt frame with a nameplate. The colours in the catalogue illustration are overall accurate, however the colours are somewhat subtler in reality.
