Provenance

Private Collection, Australia (sale: Sotheby's, London, 13th April 1972, lot 168)
Purchased at the above sale by the late owner

Condition

Executed on fibrous paper laid down on board. The sheet is slightly time-stained and there are some creases in places, most of which are inherent to the paper but some of which are associated to the laying down process. There is some foxing in places and some scattered minor staining, mainly to the corners. There are two small paper losses to the upper corners and a pale water stain above the figure's right shoulder.Otherwise, this work is in overall fairly good condition. Colours: overall fairly accurate, though the paper tone is slightly warmer in the original.
